Frequently Asked Questions
How many barcodes can I generate in one batch?
Over a thousand per run, which covers typical asset-tagging projects in a single pass.
Can the codes be sequential?
Yes. Set a starting number and each barcode in the batch increments automatically.
How do I get them onto labels?
Use the export options to move the batch into your label or printing workflow.
What do teams use it for?
Inventory tracking, fixed-asset management and equipment tagging, where each item needs a unique scannable code.
What is the difference between Code 128 and Code 39?
Code 128 packs more data into a smaller symbol and supports the full ASCII set, making it ideal for long asset IDs. Code 39 is wider but works with older legacy scanners and needs no checksum. Pick Code 128 for dense batches, Code 39 for legacy hardware.
Can I add a prefix or suffix to my barcode numbers?
Yes. Set a text prefix like AST- or DEPT01 plus a starting number and digit count, and every code in the batch follows that pattern automatically. A prefix such as LOC3-0001 keeps location or department IDs organized without renaming anything after export.
What file formats can I export my barcodes in?
Export the batch as a PDF sheet ready for printing, an Excel or CSV file mapping each code to its data, or individual PNG images named after each code. PDF suits full-page label layouts, while PNGs drop straight into design tools or dedicated label software.
Will these barcodes work with my existing scanner?
Code 128 and Code 39 are the most widely supported 1D symbologies, so virtually any handheld, presentation, or mobile camera scanner reads them. Keep bars at least 0.75 inches wide and print at 300 DPI or higher to ensure a clean first-scan read every time.
