How This Tool Works
Discord converts a Unix timestamp wrapped in <t:...> into each reader's own local time and language. Pick the date and timezone you have in mind, and this tool computes the Unix seconds and generates the code for all seven Discord formats: short time (t), long time (T), short date (d), long date (D), short date/time (f), long date/time (F), and relative (R). Everything is calculated locally in your browser.
Discord Timestamp Generator FAQ
What is a Discord timestamp?
A Discord timestamp is a special code like <t:1760000000:F> that Discord automatically converts into the local time of every person reading the message. One code, correct time for everyone.
Why does the preview differ from what my friend sees?
Discord renders timestamps in each reader's own timezone and language. The preview shows the time in the timezone you selected, while readers in other timezones see their own local equivalent of the same moment.
How do I use the relative format (R)?
Copy the <t:...:R> code to show a live countdown like "in 2 hours" or "3 days ago" that keeps updating for every reader. It is popular for event announcements and deadlines.
Can I use these codes on mobile?
Yes. Discord timestamp codes work identically in the desktop app, browser, and mobile apps on iOS and Android. Just paste the copied code into any message, comment, or embed.
Do Discord timestamps support seconds?
Yes. The long time format (T) displays hours, minutes, and seconds. Note that Discord shows seconds based on the exact instant encoded in the Unix timestamp you generated.
How far in the future or past can a Discord timestamp go?
The code stores a Unix epoch in seconds, so any date from January 1, 1970 forward renders correctly, including dates years ahead. Negative epochs for pre-1970 dates are not supported and can display incorrectly, so avoid them for birthdays or historical events.
Why did my timestamp code send as plain text instead of a date?
Discord only converts codes that are perfectly formatted: the letter t, a colon, the Unix number, another colon, a style letter, all inside angle brackets with no spaces. Curly quotes from some mobile keyboards, a missing bracket, or editing the message after sending will leave the code as plain text.
Do Discord timestamps work in embeds, forum posts, and usernames?
Magic timestamps render in normal messages, bot embeds, forum and media post bodies, and thread content. They do not work in usernames, nicknames, status messages, or channel names, because Discord only parses the code in message content, so keep them out of profile fields.
